Since 2016, I've been honored to serve on the SAC Board of Directors. Over the years, I've witnessed SAC's evolution and impressive reputation for its breadth of work. While SAC maintains a regional focus, its influence resonates nationally, positioning it as a leading voice in advocacy for HIV-related issues in the South.

I was born and raised in southern Virginia. While many people don’t consider Virginia to be the South, my hometown of Danville, Virginia, was the last capital of the Confederacy and is still decorated with Confederate flags throughout town. Growing up, I didn’t fully realize the negative impacts that inequitable health policies had on my community. However, as a public health professional, I work to combat these stigmatized policies and practices. I firmly believe that education, access, policy, and cultural responsiveness are integral to achieving optimal health outcomes. Therefore, I am dedicated to fostering community engagement, advocating for equitable healthcare access, and championing policies that contribute to ending the HIV epidemic.

As a Black woman raised in the South, I am keenly aware of the interconnectedness of HIV prevention and treatment with other health equity issues, such as reproductive justice and maternal health. Leveraging my national HIV platform, I prioritize the integration of these critical topics, especially concerning the well-being of Black women and birthing individuals. I am dedicated to educating my community about access to essential tools like PrEP, ensuring they have the means to safeguard their health effectively.

As the new Chair of the Board, I'm excited to learn more about my fellow board members' diverse expertise and amplify their unique strengths. Additionally, I'm eager to broaden the scope of our Board membership by welcoming new voices and enhancing our ability to fully serve SAC.

I'm thrilled to collaborate closely with both the Board and staff of SAC as we work towards improving the quality of life within our community, and ultimately, ending the HIV epidemic.

Randevyn Piérre | Georgia
Vice Chair

Randevyn Piérre is a business organizer, process innovator, and health messaging strategist. After high school in Colorado, Randevyn earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Colorado Tech. Randevyn has a diverse professional background in the business of disease prevention and treatment, program development, health promotion, health education, health marketing, project management, and community affairs. In each of these roles, he has served as a valuable team contributor to those he has worked alongside. 

More specifically, Randevyn’s public health work portfolio includes the Georgia Department of Public Health, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and the Janssen Pharmaceutical companies of Johnson & Johnson.

He currently serves as Regional Director in External Affairs for ViiV Healthcare.
